Is there any point to different Ele armours?
All the elementalist armours I've seen so far are identical in stats except in the type of elemental resistance. I'm wondering what's the point in getting Aeromancer armour when there's more Fire damage heading my way at present?
Is that really the only difference, whereas other occupations get different attributes and better AL? |

are you talking about pvp or pve?.. because in pve.. it really doesnt matter what armor you wear.. it's easy enough anyway. But in pvp, it matters alot. you need to be equipped against the "flavor of the month" damage makers.

But even for PvP, isn't Aeromancer really the only choice? Air magic is easily the most popular choice for elementalists. Armor choices in this game really are too simplistic. I think ANet needs to implement some new armor variations... but that's an item for another thread.

In PvE, you won't notice it as much. But in PvP, I suggest equipping yourself in Aeromancer armour as to have a bit more defense against those annoying Air Spike builds which seem to be so common. For PvE, it depends where you are. Mostly fire damage, except the Shiverpeaks and the Crystal Desert.

I think there should be a higher AL for the Fissure armors and the ascention armors, otherwise theres no point in getting them

but theres no insentive to having them.
Like, kids that PVP, get the highest armor possible without earning it. If you pay short of 80k to have special armor, wouldnt you want an extra 20 AL? |

Lets go with elementalist for this: The person using the PvP armor has 60, the person who is at droknar has 60. Its fair for both PvE and PvP to go to PvP, as their armor is equal. Someone who pays the extra cash(which isnt THAT hard to get) shouldn't suddenly be stronger than everyone else in PvP. If you want to look different and prove you've played a lot, shell out the cash. I bought the 15k armor because it looked cooler. I even dyed it all black. If I pay that much for dye, I don't expect more armor |

i think thats dumb
If you spend 3 hours in fissure to find the crafter and waste 200k to get the armor, I would want more armor. Screw the pvp'ers, they should get off their asses and go get the armor. I hate this mixed view of equality and balance in this game. It should only exist in some instances, I think if you earn the armor, you should get more |

I've been trying for a while to make a workable E/W melee character for PvP... I'dve liked it if there was some real tradeoffs available in armor for all characters. For my character, as an example, I would have liked to be able to choose a set that provided higher AL (perhaps just vs. physical), or damage reduction, at the cost of something else. Max Energy, a weakness to something (eg. Mesmer/Necro/Smiting damage) etc.
Currently in Elem armour and some other armours for some other classes, the differences are so minor there's very little to think about when choosing between sets. (In fact, for elem, I mix and match to get the most visually pleasing outfit - the powers are almost irrelevant for me atm.) |

It even depends on the type of PvP you are doing, in my opinion.
I like to match up my elemental armor for PvE, one Anti-Eart, one Anti-Fire, one Anti-Air and one Anti-Water. In 4vs4 I would suggest Fire and Air resistance at the moment, being that they are the prefered ele classes at the moment. In the HoH/ToPK you might want to bring those two and and maybe even anti-earth to combat against KD warriors. That's my observance, anyway. But in my opinion, the Hydromancer's coat is the best looking BTW: Many make the mistake of getting armor specific to their used attribute. This is a big mistake, it's like naming your healing monk "Healing Healer [Please kill me first]": it's painting a bull's eye on your head. Naturally people will go after the areomancer before the hydromancer. Last edited by Sagius Truthbarron; Jul 22, 2005 at 02:27 AM // 02:27.. |

Hydro armor set is most effective armor for PvP (reason: ask Ollj). The 15k set is best looking too.

/sarcasm if you did that, you'd have to seperate PvE and PvP entirely, to avoid complete imbalance, and then you might as well add UAS and UAR. ... hey... that sounds like a good idea... |
